How'd you end up with a 2004r in a 454 dually anyhow? That was definitely not done at the factory. That thing would have to be built up huge to handle that truck.

You'll need a crossmember, driveshaft, cooler lines, linkage adjustment, and the new trans needs to have the right speedo gear combination for your truck.

Re: 200r4 to t400

200r4s where built for old lady's cars so they shift soft and wear quickly. All the same things that are done to a 700r4 or a th350 or th400 can be done to a 2004r. All can handle in excess of 800ftlbs torque from a big block

The 200r4 is the same size as a standard 6 in tail th350 or th400. So you should just be able to move the crossmember to the proper location and put it together. Is your th400 a slip yoke rear driveshaft?

Re: 200r4 to t400

thanks for the assistance i got the new trans in and driving today i managed to raid a tailshaft yoke from a wb statesman (like a 1980 caprice) slip type. i noticed the engine seems to tilt back a fair way putting load on the bellhousing bolts (there were 2 broken) is this normal? and the 400 i put in seems to have a bit higher 1st gear than the t200 although the 400 has a 3000 converter on it so it my be that im just not used to it
