Post 69 chevy c10 250 inline 6 cold starting problems

Hi I have a 1969 chevy c10 pickup 250 4.1 inline 6 I am having cold starting problems she will fire right up when its warm but when it is below 40 she will not start with starting fluid I have checked the fuel pump it is pumping plenty of fuel but it still seems to be staring for fuel its weird new carb it was working fine had no problems up until about a week ago I would have to pump the gas 5 or 6 times and she would fire right over. I am new to this truck have only had three months any help would be appeciated

Sounds like you have an automatic choke that is out of adjustment? Adjust it properly, and it should cure problem. (I'm assuming you meant "below 40 she will not start withOUT starting fluid.)

In this case, the auto choke could be set way too rich. Try blocking choke plate open, spray in a little fluid, and it should start up. Prolly will soon die due to lack of choke, from blocking plate open.

Also, as others have suggested, IF choke has been too rich(sounds like a good chance, since problem began when temp dropped), plugs will prolly need changing due to having been flooded out--regardless of how new they may be. Dual problems now??

Replace plugs BEFORE blocking-the-choke-process, above.

Need new ones. You can save the old ones--over time, they may dry out enough to be used again.
