fuel tank

Hey folks, new here. My daughter and I are redoing a '70 C10. I have been looking at gas tank options for under the bed and was wondering if anyone has found one that works with the fuel filler neck being behind the licence plate.
Thanks Tim

Call Boyd Welding at 877-270-3576. He has a tank that fits our trucks perfectly. He can also relocate the fill neck to accommodate your desired fill location. You get the absolute best tank made out of high quality aluminum, built in baffles, can come with sending unit (designed for this tank) the drain/fuel pickup line, and rollover valve....all for less than $500 shipped anywhere in the US.

Boyds is a bolt in tank. You just need to contact them and ask what shipping will cost. You wont find a better tank. LMC will also ship to Canada, but the last tank I got was far from a bolt in and even after altering the tank to actually fit under the bed, it was just a steel tank with no baffles.

I would avoid LMC when shipping here. The last two times I used ordered the cost of shipping was almost equal to the cost of the parts. I will not use them again.

Re: fuel tank

69 Camaro or Chevelle tank will work just fine and a lot cheaper than others. I have a Chevelle tank on my son's truck and mine is about to get a Camaro tank. Here is a link to the Camaro tank that I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360156383079...84.m1439.l2649 I also have an install thread on the chevelle tank as well as a couple other guys on here...

Re: fuel tank

I have redone a '67 ford truck for myself and found that everyone bents us canadians over for shipping. So I am trying to buy somewhat local. Also I was trying to keep the tank up between the frame rails.
Thanks.

Re: fuel tank

That tank hatred posted a link to.

The title shows it as a GM32B and the item specifics show it as a GM32A.

Anyone interested might want to contact the seller first.
Good price either way.

Re: fuel tank

i found that a '70-'73 coronet tank fits between the rails and is a fill behind the license plate style. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: fuel tank

I have changed mine to a 69 camaro tank, the fit is good. Ive heard of 69 chevelle tanks being used as well as 70 monte carlo tank. I believe the positioning and mounting of all three of these is almost identical.

NOTE: Just saw your wanting the tank to totally fit within the rails------none of the above tanks are totally within the rails (they all stick outside the rails about 2 1/2" per side

Re: fuel tank

The LMC tank has no baffles?? I have a buddy that bought one, but didn't use it and is gonna give it to me- hard to beat free. But I thought the LMC tank did have baffles. Are there known "factory" type license plate fill tanks that will work with a trailer hitch?

I don't like the look of a fuel tank hanging so low.Thats why I want something between the rails.

Here is a few pics of the Boyds hanging. Not sure what your bumper setup is, but hides quite well.

Your right dude, free is always great. I originally purchased the LMC frame rail tank that is suppose to be a DIRECT bolt-in tank for our trucks. Not a blazer tank. I can tell you without a doubt there is NOT any baffles in the tank I bought. We had to cut over almost 2 inches from the top of the tank so that it would fit right up to the fram rails and not hit the bed. Otherwise the mounting tabs would hang 3 inches below the frame and the tank hung WAY too low. When we cut it open we could see the quality of the design. NOT Impressed.

If your referring to mine......These were part of the original builders idea. He had them mounted in a makeshift rollpan that was tacky. I was able to mount on bumper with little ease and keep the low profile clean look I was going for.

Mine is bagged only with a c-notch. So I can go from stock height to another 4 inches drop from this picture. I didnt go with drop spindles.
