The 700R4 is in my K20 build but need to figure out what to do for a fan shroud and I can’t find a definite answer or any pics. As the engine was moved forward 1.75”, do I need to swap to a 2WD fan shroud and will this have the necessary depth? Anyone done a 700R4 swap in their 4wd truck and if so what did you do with the fan shroud? I don’t want to notch or otherwise cut the nice OEM 4wd shroud. Appreciate the help.

I would think you would want the 2wd shroud if you moved everything forward.
Truck is looking good.

The difference between the factory mount locations is 3.86". So switching to a 2wd shroud leaves you 2.02" short of the stock location. Where as a 4wd shroud would be 1.75" further in. Since you are right in the middle either is an option, but the shroud will work better with the fan a little too far in than not enough. 2.02" is a large percentage of the "2/3rds in" convention for fans. At this point I would find a used 4wd shroud for operational clearance testing to determine if it is suitable or if a 2wd shroud with a flange would be better. Of course a fan spacer could be used but I am not comfortable with the added overhang loads of the extended fan/clutch assembly.
