faceplate in sun visor

i read i on hear awhile ago that someone put the deck unit (stereo) under the seat then put the faceplate in the visor and had it hard wired to the deck that was under the seat i cant find it now can anyone help me out i like to see pictures of it. thanks

I've never seen it on here (search came up empty too), but I've seen it at a car show a long time ago. It seems like it would take A LOT of work if you ask me...taking a part the mounting surface of the deck's face and running A LOT of wires from the visor to where ever the deck is mounted.

Either way, I'm subscribed cuz of the cool factor alone.

it was on here but in a tread like options where to put radio other then in dash someone mentioned he seen it done and said a stereo shop in cali. did it.. i was thinking you dont have to tear in to the radio all you have to do is solder wires to the pins that the faceplate connects to and vise versa... find an old radio and try it right? i might have to experment

I did a remote mount face forever ago. I used a multi-wire industrial loom, soldered a wire to each contact on the deck (used silicone to insulate it) then ran the harness to the dash (sun visor works, too) and repeated the process on the back of the face. Yes, pain in the ass, but it was cool and nobody had done it prior.

My only concern about not taking the actual deck apart is mounting the faceplate...I think it'd be trick to be able to remove the faceplate from the visor just as if it's on the deck itself. Don't know which one is more work wiring wise though as I've never seen the inside of a deck...
