McGaughy's Big Brake Kits

Does anyone have the McGaughy's front and rear 13" brake kits installed? Any pics with 20" wheels. I have seen a few pics in build threads where it appears the drilled versions are not directional so one side looks like they are installed backwards. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance! - Buck

I put the 13" on a 83 w/ Boss 338s. Picture attached showes the cross drilled holes in a certain direction. The rotors I received did have the holes drilled in different directions for different sides, but did not specify which way. We looked on line and got an answer, of..."both ways". This is a street truck for fun, so we put em on and it stops much better when you have an emeregency braking situation. Under normal braking, can't tell much difference. Hope this helps.

So from what I can tell from your picture, forward is to the left and you put the rotor on so the angle of the holes is fwd. Based on what you said, the other side is a carbon copy with the holes also angling forward? Couple more questions, how did the 338s fit the McGaughy's front rotor? Did you have to machine the "snout" of the rotor? Also, what size wheel is that? Thanks for posting the pic.

These are the 18"s. And no, after many questions and posts to LoLife and the like on here, we got the kit and it went on like butter and everything fit great. Only adjustment was the dust cap. We had to file some of the material off so it would fit flush. We are not running an inner dust cap.
Answer to the carbon copy question, yes the other side has the holes running the forward direction like the left side. So yes, flip flop copy on the other side.

Another question... Are the calipers "clocked" proportionally on the these kits. My factory front calipers are at the 3 (D) and 9 (P) o'clock positions and my CPP rear calipers are more like 1:30 (D) and 10:30 (P). So, they don't look symmetrical when you stand back and look at the truck. Just trying to research some solutions for things that I don't really care for on my truck.

Don't mean to hi jack but could I have the rotor and caliper info. I have been looking for a set of rotors and calipers for my 71 with Boss 338's. Will these work with stock spindales?

I don't know if they will fit a stock spindle but here is a link the kits:

As far as I know they do not fit the stock spindles. We got the whole kit, so spindles, hub assembly and rotors came in a set.

As far as the clocking, I don't have rear disc kit, so I am no help.

Buck, I have the 4 wheel big brake kit on my GMC. What is it you're looking for ? Just pictures?

Yes, pictures with wheels on will answer all of my questions. Especially if the wheels are 20's. I saw an older post, possibly by your dad, about the rear install and those pictures are pretty good ,but a good side shot with plenty of light would be great.

Sure does. From what I can see the front and rear calipers are clocked very close to the same. Thanks for snapping a pic!

Chad, Did you have to machine the rear axles at all to fit the rotor?

Yes, but its not very much. The guy that did my drive shaft machined them down for me.

Also, use ACDelco part number 18P5 for your replacement intermediate parking brake cable. The stock one will be too short.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up on the cable p/n! Seems like they would just enlarge the hole in the rotor and charge $2 more. But why make it easy on the consumer...
