Smoke pouring out into engine bay

I just replaced the head gasket, and while the heads were off, I put new valve seals and umbrella seals on. Now that I have everything back together, Smoke is pouring into the engine bay. Mainly from the left bank, I think. there is so much it is hard to tell.

Could this be just junk that is in the engine from the old gaskets? If one of the valve orings slipped off its groove when putting the spring on could it cause this?

I adjusted the valves with the E-O I-C method, and all the exhaust has new gaskets and is tight and snug. I did put synthetic in it on accident, not sure if that is bad. I put a qt of MMO along with it.

Also, I put a coolant flush bottle in the coolant to clean out any crap that fell into the coolant system

Could smoke a lot at first if you got crud on/in the exhaust manifolds. Give it a few minutes to clear up.

What kind of smoke? Oil,coolant ? You have to be more specific on what the smoke consist of and where it's coming out. Is it coming out of the side with the fresh gasket? Did you replace both?

I did paint both manifolds with hi temp paint. I just dont want to blow anymore smoke because my carport points right at peoples open apartment windows...

Replaced both sides, manifold and flange. Im not sure, but it looks like white or gray or so. Kinda like when you open a charcoal BBQ grill and smoke pours out. Smells like that too. Mostly the left bank, though there is so much its hard to be sure

Often oil gets on exhaust and smokes for a few minutes till clears up.
Stem seals have nothing to do w/ under hood smoke.
Leaking valve cover could be cause.
Can watch while it is warming up to find source.

Ive been trying to watch, it seems to be from manifold area. hard to see it though. Would it be a bad idea to drive with the coolant flush/water in it for a few minutes? I dont want to run it while its blowing smoke straight into the neighbors house

Wipe off everything. Start truck and shut it off when smoke starts. Go inspect manifolds for burnt/discolored paint and below valve cover for oil residue. Or just inspect manifolds right now. Sounds to me like oil or coolant. Burning paint wouldn't have thatmuch smoke.

False alarm! Drove it around, and smoke is gone. I just got paranoid when I saw that much smoke. Now it just stinks, but i think thats just burning brake fluid I spilled...

On a strange note, the exhaust sounds much deeper. Sounds much better, but strange considering all I did was headgasket and valve seals. Maybe valves weren't adjusted right before?
