Pinstripes? lets see em'

You either love them or hate them, but they do add a little character to any older car/truck. There are several artists I have used and all have different techniques. On the Burb, I wanted an old 50's feel with some Hot Rod red to tie in the engine and some brown for the interior and wheels. Ed Mathews out of Portand did a great job with some fine lines in the 50's style I was after. I hit the road after work Friday and hauled A up to his house. A quick run to Home Depot for a halogen light and he started. He wasn't able to get much of the dash done or the body line around the whole Burb , so a reschedule for another midnight session. Who else has some stipes? lets see them!

Newfisher...

I don't have any to share, but it is on my short list as soon as I find someone close to me that does good work. I have always liked pinstripes when they are not over done.

Your burb looks great.

Re: Pinstripes? lets see em'

that's some clean striping action right there. I've been playing around with pin striping for the past few years as a side line to the airbrush gig. It's one of those art forms, that takes many many years of practice to be perfect.

Judd, You SUCK! - That is said in the nicest possible way

Now, no false humility ok? Tell me you were already a fairly artistic person before you ever picked up a striping brush?

I'd LOVE to learn to stripe - just for myself. But at age 58 I doubt there's time to get proficient....that is until I read what you wrote. I was a draftsman...back when there WERE such a thing as draftsmen. Pretty good if I do say so but I doubt striping and drawing straight lines has much in common. I TRULY admire your abilities and your ability to get so good so fast. Keep at it!

Well I have always been able to draw a bit better than most but, not good enough to amount to anything and I had never painted before this. As far as being a Draftsman and drawing a straight line that will come in real handy, you need a steady hand for both curves and straight lines, I find the straight line the toughest to do. Ha and don't let the age hold ya back, I'm 58 as well so no worries there, it's never too late.

Think about it this way.......... in a couple years you're gonna be 60 and you'll either be better at striping or you'll just be 60, take your pick !!!

Heck, I just bought a guitar and I don't have a clue how to play ...........yet !!!

So your screen name SHOULD be Judd58?

Good point on being 60 + whatever skill I pick up. I SHOULD know this cause I'd never snow ski'd once before I turned 45. I met my girlfriend, she LOVED skiing so I took it up and found I was pretty good at it. Now I'll be an excellent 60 year old skier! (If I don't break my leg next season)

I got some stripes layed down today. This is something that I have been wanting to have done for some time. I was waiting to find the right artist.

We settled on the colors Lime green, black and orange.

Out of curiosity, what did that cost, if you do not mind me asking?
