Help!!!!

Ok guys, I have a 1972 Chevy "Ramp Truck" (tow vehicle with a sleeper cab, ramp on the back, and it's a dually)

The problem I'm having is, can't find a master cylidner for this thing...ANYWHERE...

It's a Wagner-Lockheed master cylinder, and looks pretty standard...except it has a 1 3/4" bore as opposed to a 1 1/4" bore.

I really need one of these, or a rebuild kit for this one.


Please guys, any help would be appreciated, the local parts guys are scratching their heads more than their asses over this one

Who are the local parts guy's?? NAPA. Autozone, etc. And where are you located?? Some one may have a local source to send you to, but knowing where you are is a help.

Local parts guys are NAPA, Autozone, and Advance. There's also a place called Austin Brake and Clutch (I'm in Austin, Texas).


Austin Brake and clutch couldn't help me, but then they don't hire the cream of the crop it would appear.

You could try Master Power Brakes or possibly Fine Lines
There is a Parts store Here in town that has been around for ever
he generally has everything I need. It's Fry's auto parts
the #937-426-6030. There are located in Dayton, Ohio

Have you tried a chevy dealer? They might be a bit expensive, but they might be able to help too.

BTW, you have any pics of this truck? Sounds really neat.

your just telling them its a 1 ton chevy right? dont tell them its a car carrier! lol. i have troubles with the parts guys here too (im in san antonio).

i may be wrong, but is there are differance between the any of the master cyls? seems odd to me.

haven't tried a Chevy Dealer yet, because I know they're gonna take me for all I'm worth. i'll try and get some pics for you guys, too.

The only difference I can think of, is that the master cylinder has to move a TON of fluid. The brake system on this truck is enormous, and the calculations I did show that a regular master cylinder (like for a C10) won't move enough fluid to stop the truck. It's also possible I can't find the 1 3/4" master cylinder because technology has improved so much that it's doesn't need to be that big any more.

both of my 1 ton trucks use the same master cylinder as the 3/4 tons do.

go to napa they deal in alot of stuff for larger trucks, and if you could i want to see a pic of that truck
