Speedometer cable question ;)
HI ya'll!
The question is, where would the speedometer cable come through the firewall? above the column or just to the passenger side of the column? The truck didn't have a speedo cable. Thanks! dne'

it went thru one of the many holes you welded up
 mine goes thru the column hole as does my brake switch wire and oil pressure line

That's a chevy truck? Just looks different. The four hole grommet is kind of difficult to make out in your excellent photo Is it just below the ridge that you convinced me in cutting off in my truck?

I ran mine up inside the cab against the firewall. Figure carpet pad and carpet will cover it. I will post a pic tomorrow.

You can get those cables in different lengths. Get a longer one and route it yourself in an inconspicuous location. IMO, you don't want that ugly cable coming up there and ruining your firewall. I opted out for electronic speedo when I got gauges. Cost more but I don't have to worry about that problem.

Here is how I am routing my speedo and trans temp cables. It requires a small dimple where the trans cover meets the cab. I then ran them under the gas pedal and up the firewall. My insulation and carpet pad will be about 3/4" thick so they should not cause a carpet bulge. In this pic the temp cable has not been zip tied to the speedo cable. I used the 74 4WD extension to get the length I needed. With a standard trans you may not need it, on 4WD the speedo comes out of the back of the transfer case.
