gears ratio for 70 c-10
I am wondering if anybody would know what gear ratio is in my 70 c/10 4x4 swb stepside 307 3sp on the column. I have a front differential out of a 8? Blazer with disc was wondering if it would work? I dont plan on using the 4wd. Its a cruiser. Thanks in advance

3.73 gears were stock without option in your application. Check out post #12 of my thread here. However it could be anything 43 years later, be best to pull the rear cover and check.

Re: gears ratio for 70 c-10
If I had a vehicle that was 4x4, and did not plan on using it I would swap over to a 2wd front end. Just because that is extra weight and what not up front burning up gas.. This being that this would be easy to do. I really dont know much at all when it comes to 4x4 lol

Re: gears ratio for 70 c-10
Actually you should match the ratios front and rear to keep the system intact. We both know it snows there, sometimes a lot. Plus when it comes to resale nothing kills value faster than an axle problem as buyers always suspect a lot more problems.

Re: gears ratio for 70 c-10
hi , you take the number of teeth on pinion and divide it by the number on teeth of your ring gear that will give your ratio

Re: gears ratio for 70 c-10
Actually that is backwards. You divide the ring gear (large) by the pinion (small) and the result is the ratio. In this case it would be a 41 tooth ring divided by an 11 tooth pinion for a ratio of 3.727:1.
