Re: computer tune and harness mods?
A dyno tune will always yield better results (and access to support) than a canned e-tune will. I dislike the concept of having to mail my computer to a tuner, especially if its for fine tuning or future minor changes. Most good dyno tuners should cover fine tuning if for example the shift points, firmness, torque managment etc needs adjustments. While some e-tuners will do small changes like that, they can only ballpark the changes, unless you go all the way to data-logging (which would then put you way past an e-tuner anyway).

Re: computer tune and harness mods?
I just picked up the same 4.8l/4l60e combo for my truck. Did any one keep stock gm fuse block or you use an aftermarket one when modifying the harness?

Re: computer tune and harness mods?
you don't need the stock box its just a headace! most people run a 4 fuse terminal and 2 relays and just make it stand alone. then you use and aftermarket box for the rest of the truck. but if you get the aftermarket box first you can easily run the engine with it and then all wires are marked! lets face it you want to run new wires and fuses on a 40+ year old truck anyhow! you only need a hand full of wires for the truck to run tho!

Re: computer tune and harness mods?
Using the factory fuse box is Very simple & you don't have to cut the harness up, Or even take it off the engine. I will walk you through it if you want.

Re: computer tune and harness mods?
You will need a "un-hacked" harness, Fuse box, Fuse box connectors, Fuse box shroud & lid. I will need the year/make/model of the donor truck to give specifics.

It looks like lt1swap.com has the break down for using the stock fuse box.

Re: computer tune and harness mods?
x2 on using stock fuse box, connectors. Its a little ugly and bulky, but super simple and has lots of left over relays and fuses for the other little things in life.

Re: computer tune and harness mods?
I've chopped up a few harnesses in the past.
This go-round I spent the $ to have it done professionally. I had Bill @ BP Automotive do mine and he did a fantastic job. $350 and it came back looking great. He's a sponsor on ls1tech.
