Im looking to remove my factory 3speed manual trans together with my motor so I can paint the engine compartment/firewall
Just wanted to double check how many items are holding it in place and what I need to unbolt/remove.motor is ready to go once I remove it from the motor mounts. Thanks guys Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: removing factory 3speed manual transmission with motor
Have you down loaded the manuals yet?
IIRC it will be easiest to remove the trans. first. Not much beyond the driveshaft, shift linkage, speedo cable and four trans. to bellhousing bolts. Then pull it back and out the bottom. After seperation of all the engine electrical and hose connections its close to done. Then you can unbolt the four engine mounts (2 engine and 2 bellhousing). Its easy now to pull the engine forward up and out without having to worry about the tailshaft and the firewall even if your lift goes high enough to angle it out. Unless you are planning on pulling the grill, radiator and core support that is. As far as a detailed list there are really not that many connections compared to a modern drivetrain. Just take pictures and work through it slowly.
