Re: I need some help!

Nice looking shorty. Rust would be my biggest concern. How is the body? I understand you are thinking shop truck, but a rust bucket will be hard to sell should you ever need to sell it.

Try a CLR bath (you can do a search with those terms for scores if instructions). Another option (which is what I did with my patina truck), was to use some Maguires paint cleaner, followed by Maguires wax.

Re: I need some help!

David Friburger from Hot Rod magazine, makes a paste out of Ajax and scrubs the paint down it does a nice job of removing all the oxidation, then power wash the heck out of it. I like the CLR idea as well.

Just type "CLR bath" into the search box. You'll get a ton of results.

The Maguires paint cleaner I mentioned (sold at Walmart and autozone) takes the oxidation off. My truck was heavily oxidized. Looked like a film of white chalk. It took it off.

Here's the before and after

After:

Re: I need some help!

No clear coat for me I rather spend hours waxing it and know that it will always look like thia rather than have a clear coat look good for a few years then start to peel because then I will have to paint it and I'm also not sure a clear coat would work because the roof, hood and a few spots on the bed are bare metal and fairly rusty

You can buy replacements from Brothers for about $20 each. They already come primered black. You'll have to try to match your paint, and then do the fake patina thing in those areas to blend it

Re: I need some help!

I recommend replacing rockers for sure they are very easy to blend in and no one will know cab corners are tricky you need a lower moulding to do it best it breaks the paint lines and makes it very hard to tell there is a blue suburban on her that this was done too and you would never know the entire lower part was painted
