Speaker Kick Panel ?

Looking to add audio to my son’s truck and are wondering exactly how the speaker kick panels are secured (screws, double sided tape, heavy duty Velcro, etc). We will most likely use these from Vintage Auto Radio unless someone can recommend a better product:

Most likely they are either screwed into the steel or using a push style clip into a predrilled hole.
I made my own so I could buy exactly what I wanted for speakers. I wrapped them in orange first time then redid them to cover entire kick panel and wrapped in carpet.

Just about anyone sells those, and for a better price.

You can get a nice sounding set of kenwood or pioneer 6.5" speakers from wal-mart for around $30.

I painted mine and screwed mine down.

Thanks for your input. The reason I asked how these are installed is because the ones we’ve looked at state “simple no modification installation” but no mention of how they actually secure to the metal kick panel.

I really like how you guys did yours – very clean and professional. Do either of you have issues with accessing the dimmer switch and is there any interference with the parking brake assembly? I think you guys have 67s so the parking brake is probably not an issue but we will be installing in a 1971 so curious if anyone has any issues.

Mine is sitting loosely on the floor. The speaker pod is kinda in the way.

Forgot about the kick ebrake. Maybe someone who has a newer truck will comment.

I was going to put a set in my truck, and when they arrived the passenger side wouldn't fit without trimming, and the drivers side was going to require relocating the dimmer and modifying the e-brake.

I returned them and installed a highliner.

Don't mean to hijack the thread Wayne, but I'm curious about the Highliner. Do you like it? Do the speakers produce pretty good sound? They don't have to be great.

Also, where did you get it?

The Highliner is decent. I wired it up so I have left and right speakers over my head, and another set of left and right over the passenger. The other way the sound staging was wacked out.

The sound is just ok, not great. I'm a stereo snob, so take that for what its worth.

I wanted a headliner, and I needed speakers, so it worked ok. Eventually I'll put in some better speakers.

IIRC, the best price I found was at Eckler's.

I bought the ones from LMC and changed the speakers to a better quality speaker You cannot hit the dimmer with your foot but I never use my bright lights anyway because the truck is lifted. I had to bend the Ebrake slightly to clear the speakers.

Mine actually is a 72 Cab and frame...with 67 front clip and bed.
I have enough clearance for dimmer to work freely, however I do not have a emergency brake installed.
