3 to 1 wire alternator conversion with an gauge dash

Need some help... I have found some good info on this conversion with some great pictures but all I ever find is the conversion with the idiot light, I have a dash with the amp gauge and every time I find a thread concerning this conversion it talks about a resistor to be put inline, so my question is does anyone have any detailed pics or instructions concerning this conversion... Any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance
