Can someone tell me how to tell the difference between headboards for metal floors verses wood floors ? I have one but not sure witch it is for.

Heard the differences are the lip or flange on the bottom where the wood or metal floor would overlap. Does anyone have a pic of the differences? I am curious also if it is possible to modify a metal head board for one to suit the wood.

The only difference I know of is, the one for the wood floor is 1/2 in taller. Sorry I don't know what that height is right now. When I get to the shop I will measure it and post the height

If it is a slight 1/2" difference is it possible to use an angle strip for the sides of a step bed to raise or lower for the header? Still looking for pics if anyone has them.

Look at this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...php?t=533405It shows pictures of my headboard. The bolt holes in the head board did not line up for the wood. All the other holes in the bed braces ect did line up. I did not have to put any angle strip in the front. In the end I just drilled new holes in it.

The parts manual shows 19.5" for the metal and 20.5" for the wood floor. These are very likely rounded as a parts reference. The bed wood itself is about .75-.81" thick. The factory inside spec height is 19.22" for either style from the rub strip to the top of the bed. The bed wood itself rests on the front angle and is clamped to it by the strips.
Remember if you are doing a metal to wood conversion the front panel is taller (extending lower), all the sills are shorter for the thicker wood and the rear sill is different with a lip for the wood to lay in just forward of the tailgate.
While I am sure it is possible to alter a front panel by extending it down the differnce, remember you will be welding to a single layer panel at or just above the floor line.

Here are two pictures of a wood bed being documented and its faults are labeled. Plus a factory general bed spec table.

1moretime I am just not seeing you situation as relevant though the pictures were nice. Stepsides came from the factory with wood floors without a metal option. So your front, sides and sills already allow for the wood thickness.
