Yup. Your shift linkage pivots there.

...Unless you go with an aftermarket (Lokar) setup.

Yes it would. Heres a pic of mine modified for a 4l80e. Same concept.

The little nylon bushing that goes in there has a nasty tendency to randomly disappear if your me.
