BIG Static drop with a notch pic request

Looking to see how far I can take my '70 long bed with either a c notch, or step notch. Dont really have the money to fund and air ride right now, so we're going with the next best thing. Im fine cutting the frame, bed, what ever to get her low. Iv heard of guys using 6 inch spings with 2 inch blocks, but I haven't seen the pictures. Any help would be great, Id appreciate it.
Thanks fellas
-Andrew

Re: BIG Static drop with a notch pic request

if you really wanna go crazy
hotchkins 6" drop coils and make some 3" drop blocks like i did
granted you may have problems with the scrub line with smaller rims but i havent had any problems
and choppp the hell out of the front coils

and believe it or not it wont be that pricy to do air ride
you can put the bags in the rear of the stock location of the coils for now
so bairly any mod back there

the front just buy the upper plate and lower cup for under $100
and theres plenty of great deals out there for bags
by the time you buy all your components for the static drop you will already be alomst $100 away from having air ride

Re: BIG Static drop with a notch pic request

Mine is not finished, but here is 6" springs and 1" block with a notch. I may actually do 2" blocks once I see the front. Definitely a little room back there for more block (that's why the Ubolts havent been cut off yet.. ) I also used the Hotchkis 'Anti Squat' kit to raise the mounting point of the front of the trailing arms.

Re: BIG Static drop with a notch pic request

I ordered the 4.5/6" drop from ECE...I'm thinking I am going to go ahead and notch it while the bed is off and I am taking care of the frame.

Did you guys that step notched have to do any bed modifications?

Re: BIG Static drop with a notch pic request

IF your truck is a wood floor, you will likely need to do a couple recessed places in the wood on the back side where the wood can sit down over the bolts in the top of the notch plate. Not a big deal but .. I think the wood sits about 3/4" lower as compared to the thickness of the metal floor. I could be wrong (?) .. but I had to back drill mine to get it to sit flush.

Yes they are, one backfire can make a bad day.

I can't believe that they still make/sell them?

You should cut the extra length off the bottom of those u-bolt, they look below the scrub line. I used a grinder with a cut off wheel for mine.

Re: BIG Static drop with a notch pic request

Maybe re-read the post? . Thanks for the info but it was just for mockup. It now has 2" blocks in it and the bolts were changed over to shorter ones.

Not trying to be an a55..
