Re: Missouri guys help

I think just one. And at the time required your name, licensed GW, BL or L and address on the doors. I could be wrong but thought they went to two plates in mid 70's on trucks. Not sure when the door info stuff went away but it was earlier. Cars had two plates by 76 I know because I had to get special plates that year for a 72 Impala.

Re: Missouri guys help

Thanks. I just bought a '70 K5 in southwest Missouri and brought it to Illinois. I want to run year of maufacture plates from Missouri, so I guess I need just one.

You can run a Missouri plate on a vehicle registered in Illinois?

Re: Missouri guys help

Only one plate required when using an approved previous year plate. But never heard of being in IL and using a Mo. plate can't see how they would go for that one.

Re: Missouri guys help

It was either 73 or 74. I remember getting a ticket for not using the front----and I think that was spring of 74 (I remember what I was driving)

I have a 73 Mo truck plate from my truck on the wall they only had one that year or else I would have saved both of them.

Re: Missouri guys help

The Illinois Vehicle code states I can run year of manufacture as long as I have valid registration in the vehicle. Doesnt say it has to be Illinois year of manufacture so I run what the registration of the state I buy the vehicles out of. I have a 68 burb and for the last two years I have had Washington state plates on that one.

Re: Missouri guys help

I have a pair of original MO tags on my '71. Call Larry, he knows EVERYTHING about vintage MO tags, and if he doesn't have it or can't get it...it don't exist:

This surprises me... I don't think you would get by with this in MO.

I agree with the others, 1970 would have issued a single plate. I'm running a single truck plate on my '69.

I'm kind of confused by your statement.... are you not registering the vehicles in IL under your name? (bold and underlined section)
