Re: High hump?
High humps are usually found on 4x4s and big block/turbo 400 2wds, but not always!
If you have no carpet, or it is removed, there is a removable, bolt in cover on the high humps. Clear as mud? |

Re: High hump?
High humps came on 4x4's and 4-speed manual trucks. I believe on the big block TH400 trucks too, usually. Some boardmembers have the TH400 with a low hump.
The low hump is part of the floor pan, the high hump is bolted in. You can easily cut the low hump out and bolt a high hump in.

Re: High hump?
Don't forget trucks with the 4 speed. (probably the main reason they had high humps!) Both my Cheyenne 20 and Custom 30 have it.

Re: High hump?
When looking at trucks, I only considered high-hump trucks so there is plenty of room for the Tremec 5-speed tranny that will reside there before long.

Re: High hump?
Be aware that there are two types of covers - a 6 cylinder, and an 8 cylinder. The placement of the opening for the shifter is a little different (in the manual trucks). I'm not sure if the high hump in the autos had any opening on them at all.

Any pics of the differences? My 66 has a low hump but I noticed that the shifter hole isn't actually centered...

The 4-speed V-8 shifter hole is up forward and pretty much at the upward flaired section the I-6 location is 3.8" further back and conpletely on the flat section. There are illustrations in the assembly manual if you dig around.

Re: High hump?
I think this is for a V8 4X4. Got it as a spare part with the truck I bought.

Re: High hump?
Pretty sure that is a V-8 4x2 4-speed cover. The V-8 4x4 is aft the same as the I-6. My mistake earlier.

Re: High hump?
This might help. Also shows the double bend vs single bend levers.

Based on those pics, I change my vote to low hump.
