How low can ya go? - C20

just came across a free 78 C20 long box from a friend. How low can you get those things without doing C10 suspension swap? Static drop I mean? any one have any pics of a C20 hammered right down? I'm thinking springs, spindles, flip kit, shackles and hangers?

As for the front, I once heard a rumor that C30 spindles will work. Haven’t had the need to verify, but might be worth looking into. Cut a coil (or so) and you should be getting close to 5-6” drop (results may vary). In the rear, you can make a flip kit with the right size axle pads, or see if the spring widths between the ¾ and 1-tons are the same. If they are, you can use a C30 flip kit/shackles/ect. Depending on the heath of the spring pack, you could get 6”-9” of drop there.

If you cross reference the parts, I think it’d be relatively easy to get a 5/7 – 6/9 drop on ¾ ton suspension.

Sorta looked into this for about 5 minutes a few years ago when there was a super clean ¾ ton Suburban available for a song. It sold before I could even get off work to go look at it, so I didn’t do any further research.

HA!)

Im droping my C20 right now. I went with shackle/hangers and pulled three springs in the back. Gave me 6 inches but doesnt look very low at all. Based on my measurements a flip will give you 8 inches. If you do the flip kit you will have to notch the frame. There are no flip kits for C20. You have to buy perches for the rear end and weld them in.

In the front I am going with 3 inch spindles and going to cut a coil to give me 5-6inches total. There are a few brands that make C20 spindles (POL/AIM). A C30 spindle will work but it will require a different brake caliper.

Porterbuild makes a C20 Dropmember if you have the cash.

Ah...yeah, that make sense. Forgot about the Bendix-style calipers on the 1-tons.

ya i want this thing hammered down... I had a 95 with a 6/8 ish and it was perfect and the woman wants same stance as that... didn't know they didn't actually make flip kits... and the spindle thing makes sense... stupid thing is that there's spindle companies that claim they are C20/C30 spindles... but have a bolt on and clip on brake style. damn these trucks eh

The lack of flip kits is due to the solid leaf spring saddles. Here is what I would do if I had the time and space:

Front:
3 inch springs
3 inch spindles
3 inch Z

Rear:
Flip kit
Drop shackles
Drop hangers

Probably give you 9/11 inch drop. You would need to keep the tall ass tires and modify the wheelwells but damn it would be bad ass.
