Re: wanting to change air cleaner

I’m running a 10” aftermarket air filter I bought from Summit Racing on sale. It says Chevrolet on top. I think it was $10, and seems to be the same shape as Moroso air cleaners. I wish I had bought several at the time as I think the replacement filter elements cost more than I paid for the whole thing!

Years ago I used a 14” air filter. Nothing fancy, just something that was cheap when I needed one.

Re: wanting to change air cleaner

Every test I have seen showed the cotton K&N filters being poor at actually filtering compared to a paper filter. IMO, get a 14" air cleaner, and a paper element for an '83 Olds 350 diesel Cutlass. Cheap, readily available 14x4 filter.

Re: wanting to change air cleaner

I went to ebay and typed a search for a aluminum air cleaner. All kinds of vintage and new stuff on there.

Re: wanting to change air cleaner

I just bought the lid and base at a swap meet for three bucks, and use the 14x 4 filter.......

Re: wanting to change air cleaner

Can you put a taller filter in the existing air cleaner that will raise the top part higher than the base? That would leave the new filter exposed an inch or so, increase the air flow and still look stock.
