Lowest

I want to drop my 1970 c10. What's the lowest i can go on springs? I was thinking of just putting on bags without the management system to do it on the cheap.

Re: Lowest

4/6
4.5/6
5/7
5.5/7.5
With the addition of drop spindles and blocks.

Re: Lowest

5" is getting close to the limit in the front. Just remember that when you go as low in the front as you can on springs, the issue isn't the amount of clearance from the ground to the crossmember, it's the clearance between the lower control arms and the ground. You have to completely change the way you drive, or you'll beat your LCAs to death.

There are tons of ways to gain clearance, some cheap and some expensive. Use the Search function and look up the terms Dropmember, Sectioning Crossmember, and Z'ing. Hours and hours of info.

Re: Lowest

Thanks. Planning to do disks and drop spindles first. leaning towards bags with valves for now.
My commuter is a tdi jetta with koni coils. I like the feel of springs but then again have never driven a car with bag.

Trying to do this project on a budget...
