New Guy, New owner 72'

Hello everyone, I am the new guy on here, and the new owner of a 72' short bed; it has been a dream of mine to own a classic since I was a kid, and now it is true. I bought the truck from a guy who had to sell because he had a second child, and had no time for it anymore. The truck is clean with a 350, 750 edelbrock carb, and 700r Trans. I am not to mechanically inclined, pretty much diving into this, I'll figure it out as I go, and I have good friends that are willing to lend a helping hand. The second day I had her, first thing in the morning she would not start up. So I rolled up the sleeves and got dirty, thus far, I had to replace the solenoid, battery, battery cables, battery terminals and ditched the old alternator with external voltage regulator; I replaced it with a one wire alternator. I came to the conclusion that it was the voltage regulator draining the battery. It has been a couple of weeks and no problems; I have been driving it everywhere and started making my list of things I would like to upgrade or work on. I enjoy the site; there is great info on here, and the wife and I enjoy reading about and looking at other trucks.
