Astro Van VS Late Model Hydro boost unit
So I finally made it back into the garage and have my truck going for this season, and one of the top items on my list is finishing the hydroboost. I need to hit the junkyards this week, and located a few different hydroboost units.
Is there a fucntional difference or preferred unit for these conversions? I've seen the Astro Van units, and then the late model silverado hd hydroboost units, all around the same price. I'm running an lq4 with the hydroboost-ready ps pump, and if it matters, the 72 steering gear. Thanks.

Re: Astro Van VS Late Model Hydro boost unit
There is an angle difference on the booster mount. The Astro is more level and the late model is angled. May make no difference to you. Or my memory could be failing me.

Re: Astro Van VS Late Model Hydro boost unit
Thanks for the input, I stopped at a yard and got a nice (tho greasy) hydro unit, with mounting bracket, and master cylinder for $45, from a 97ish astro. Was a bear to get out since I could barely get under the dash, but other than that seemed worth it for the price.

Re: Astro Van VS Late Model Hydro boost unit
Guys, I found some really nice threads over on DieselPlace and a few others; those diesel guys have rebuilt more of these things than we here on the hotrod scene can imagine.
I'm going to do my own little synapsis on our forum, with my teardown pictures etc; it will be nice to get some hard info on the rebuild and swap for us over here! Link coming tonight.
