does anyone know the curb weight on a 48 chevy truck..

more exact

48 1.5 ton flat bed

48 dump truck..

any help.. thanks

It shouldn't be too hard to find the shipping weight for a cab and chassis when they were new and then you have to guesstimate the weight of the bed or box or what ever is stuck on it. I'd think that the dump box and hydraulics on the top one probably add from 2000 to 3000 lbs to the truck empty. You buying them by the pound or figuring what it takes to haul them?

What it takes to haul them.. if the trailer that I can get will hold it.. I know my Silverado 1500 cant do it..

I'd say minimum of a one ton dualie for either and a pretty stout trailer that is good for 10000 lbs. My buddy hauled my 1-1/2 ton home behind his 1 ton Dodge on the trailer he hauls his tractor on.

Go to this page and scroll down to the truck section and click on the weights on page 59 and 60. It gives all the shipping weights for bare cab and chassis and more.

If you snoop around in the cab of the dump truck you might find an old weight slip that shows the "tare" weight which will be pretty close to the current curb weight of the truck as it sits empty.

The link above shows curb weight but I'd say that the flatbed is close to 6000 lbs and the dump truck is probably close to 7000 lbs.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
