quick ? on fuel lines - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Can anyone tell me what size the main hard fuel line is? I have an electric fuel pump on my truck and the whole thing has been plumbed with rubber lines. I want to replace at least part of this with a hard line as the hoses are starting to perish but can't find what size it should be. I'm gonna just buy a length of tube and bend it to shape and connect it with short lengths of braided hose to the pump and carb.

3/8th for V8, 5/16 for I6

You could get 8 or 10 mm if that is easier for you

Use Kunifer Copper/Nickel alloy tubing, it is easy to work with, won't rust and won't crack like pure copper. It is available from Frosts Auto Restoration which is very close to you.

Did you get that engine mount in OK?

Actually, the 2bbl V-8 engines had 5/16 also.
Run a 3/8 or whatever that would be in metric...10mm I think.
Good call on dumping the rubber line...not safe at all.

Neil, got the engine mount on with much swearing and grazing of knuckles, you were right, had to loosen everything up again and line it all up before tightening it up.

I had forgotten about Frosts, I'll have to take a trip over this week. I've got their latest catalgue so I'll have a look in there. I want to get them changed over before I get a leak and a fire!
