New Member: 1972 K20 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

New member here from Tucson. Picked up my favorite truck of all time last weekend and am asking for a little advice as I get to know her.

1. Tires: I am going to run 265/75/16 tires and would like some reviews on what you guys are running. Keep in mind I have a K20 and would like some capability off road, but that will be 10% of the miles at most. I need a tire that doesn't break the bank, lasts a decent amount of miles and has some capability off road.

2. Dome light: Can't find the answer. Mine doesn't work at all. I suspect the actual light, but can't seem to figure out how to pull the cover off to get at the bulb. Any help?

3. Who has the best spray-in bed liner. Rugged, looks good and lasts in the Arizona summers?

I've been reading the forums like mad the last few days. This is a great place to learn. I'm loving the hell out of my new '72.

I bought the LT265/75R16 Cooper Discoverer AT3, E Rated, quiet on the road, seem to be good off road and in the snow and reasonably priced. Only have 5,000 miles on them, shows no wear yet.

Very nice clean K20, congrats and welcome to the forum!

I'm running BFG All Terrain KOs in 33/12.50-16.5 so not much help..... but they also come in your size. You have a lot of great choices in your size. Most of us tend to recommend whatever we have spent our own money on, so I'll suggest BFGs, though they aren't cheap.

Grip that dome light lens top & bottom (centered) and gently squeeze, then pull it towards you to remove.

It looks like I have the same wheels that you have,,, I got them in a package deal on a trailer deal.
I have 285/75-16 coopers in the rear and hercules up front,, the truck rides well,, better than the 265/75 michelins, but the michelins were 10-12 years old.

Your truck looks good ! Any pics of the inside ? Motor ?

Nice truck! K/20s have been the main course on my table most my life. You have good taste! I guess that's a good size for those wheels.

Welcome fellow K20 owner! I've got BFG ATs on mine (or "for" mine - the build is close to being done) but if I had more of a choice I'd have selected a different tire (not many choices left for a 16.5 wheel). I really like the BFG AT and have these on two other vehicles I own but you could find a tire that's more balanced toward the % of on-road use you expect. Let's see some more pics of your ride...
