Joe, I have been looking for a pair of 68 plates, i was told that in 68 they only issued 1 plate and it was to be displayed on the back, that may be the reason I can only find single plates.
I called the DMV here in town about 3 months ago about having old plates registered and they said it could not be done, is this something they just started recently.

Rob, I think they might have only had one plate for cars before like 1970??? I have some single 1968 and 1969 ones for a car. I do have a pair of 1972 car tags. But they had two for trucks, I have a pair of 1971 and 1972 truck tags. I was hoping to find some in better condition. None on ebay.

And yes you can issue the tags to your truck, I talked to Jeff city last week. You can get the form at the dept of revenue.

Joe, there is a booth here by my house that has hundreds of plates. It is in the Trip Stop Fireworks and Antique Mall. At the Fillmore exit on 29 highway. Come on up and have a look. I could meet you anywhere or there. Feel free to stop by and have a cold one.

I never heard that you could use older plates now.. I was going to look at historical plates for the old Rambler of mine, but having plates the same year of the truck and car would be great. I may have to take a trip over there myself. I do have a old 1976 bicentinal plate, in OK condition, but only one. I was saving to mount when I fix up my shop. might need to start collecting plates now.

I found a nice set of my dads 1976 plates that have the bi-centenial on them. Way cool MO plates. I am looking for a nice set of 1971 plates for my GMC also so any one that has a set of these let me know. The law shows you only need one plate but I prefer two as not to get any $hit from the law.
