Who makes the best parts?

Howdy,

I'm new to this and have asked a few questions about the mechanical aspect of my new project. This winter, I plan on doing a frame off restore on my 72 lwb c10. It's going the need new floor pan rocker panels, bed supports, and front inner fenders. I've found several sites that offer replacements. Who makes the best parts for the price? So far I've found LMC, Top Banana, and Classic parts. Any recommendations on who's best, or who to stay away from?

Re: Who makes the best parts?

From what I understand there are two plants both overseas that makes all the reproduction panels ......different companies put there name on them and one company(good mark) claims made in USA but on there panels there is a made in Taiwan label I think it's like playing roulette sometimes they fit sometimes they don't it just depends on the luck of the draw.....for some reason I think I heard the triplus brand was good and that a lot of the dealers carry that brand

Re: Who makes the best parts?

I think the parts themselves are pretty much all the same. Some fit great and others need some tweaking. I've been ordering from Classic Parts for the repair panels, their prices seem the best once you include shipping.

LMC is one of the worst for customer service, and they pack everything in a million packing peanuts. Not fun. I only use them if they are the only source I can find. I also like Early Classic Enterprises and Brothers.

I have been happy with my parts that had Tri-plus stickers on them!

Re: Who makes the best parts?

Frame off restoration? Or just pulling the cab and box off the frame and cleaning everything up?

For a frame of restoration... you'll need NOS type factory parts.

If you're just yarding the cab and box off to make it all look good and fix some rust... then any aftermarket parts supplier will probably do.

Re: Who makes the best parts?

I suppose restoration is not the correct term. I plan to pull everything off, and repair any rust issues. Once it's done, I plan on just having a nice clean looking solid running truck. No need for NOS parts.

Re: Who makes the best parts?

It's hit and miss with aftermarket parts. Good luck on the restoration!

Not had 1 single issue with LMC trucks customer service and only had one part that failed and they replaced it even after their 6month warrenty.

Re: Who makes the best parts?

I just installed a Tri-Plus panel today and I think it is the nicest fitting panel I've ever installed. I'm going to try and seek them out for my future needs.
