Driveshafts

I'm in the process of mocking up things on my '53 3100, I have the Camaro rearend and SBC motor/350TH tranny mounted, next is the driveshaft. I know that whatever I choose probably will have to be altered, but this thing is going to be LONG. I've looked at the local pick-n-pull, nothing seems to be long enough. Any suggestions, besides a custom made one?

Re: Driveshafts

I used a 2pc S10 4x4 shaft on mine. If you get a 2wd 2pc, you can mix and match front/rear shafts and it'll give you 3-4 inches of length difference. I'm running an S10 4x4 rear diff, with a SBC/TH350 combo as well.

Re: Driveshafts

a 3100 one piece drive shaft is not that long
a 3200 or longer i'd look at 2 piece
i'd go one piece for less complication

quit looking at the fwd drive shafts

Re: Driveshafts

I put a 350 with a short tailshaft th350 in mine I got the distributor as close to the firewall as could.

I'm using a 95 caprice drive shaft that's around 56" long (center to center on u-joints)

It's a perfect fit with about 1 1/2" at the yoke.

Can you put a yoke in the trans and pull it out about 1 1/2" then measure from the center of the u-joint to the center of the u-joint on the rearend?
