Need new tires and help with size???

Ok Heres my 72 Cucstom10 Delux. I need new tires in a big way the Goodyears on it are just a bit dry, 255/70/15. I do like the width but, im not a fan of how tall the sidewall is either. Im confused about what size to buy, id like to see some pics of trucks with 15" wheels and post your tire size please, to compare. Truck will be lowered with the 4/6 drop soon. Just want more of a sport truck style tire and size.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Need new tires and help with size???

295/50 rear, 265/50 front...will be changing the fronts to 265 or 275/60 to gain some extra ground clearance.

Re: Need new tires and help with size???

if your speedo is reading correct now you might want to stay with what you have now, do you want taller side wall or shorter side wall?

Re: Need new tires and help with size???

They have those tire calculators for metric tires. Just search for tire calc.online then punch in different sizes it will give you width and height and you can compare with your size. Maybe you already know this.

Re: Need new tires and help with size???

I'd do a 245/60 and a 275/60 with that drop you are talking about. Love the staggered tires on these trucks.

Re: Need new tires and help with size???

Mine has 245/60-15 on 8s up front 275/60-15 on 10s at the rear. (Correction my sons)
5/5.5 drop. I guess. The front was supposed to 3.5 may raise the front 1"

Re: Need new tires and help with size???

Example:

255/70/15

255 divided by 25.4 = 10.03 in. this is the width of the tire.

10.03 * .70 = the aspect ratio of the tire. (the sidewall height) =7.02 in this is the height of the tire from the ground to the bottom edge of the wheel. Then the same for the top edge to the top of the tread.

So .. 7.02 x2 = 14.04 + 15 (the wheel) = 29.04" tall.

Make sense?

255/60/15

255/25.4*.60*2+15 = 27.04 " tall.

Maybe that will help with your decision

Here is a link to a really good website I like to use when deciding tire and rim sizes it gives a really accurate representation of what will happen with different sizes and measurements.
