Re: Power steering help

Do you have a small block, and does it have the short water pump as came in these trucks originally?

Re: Power steering help

It a small block 350 but I'm dressing it up like a 283 And I'm putting a short water pump in it just like the original. It also has factory A/C if that makes difference

Re: Power steering help

He has a long water pump small block power steering setup in that picture. Same one that was on 73-87 trucks.

Re: Power steering help

As already said, that PS pump bracket assembly is for a long water pump, which is what is on the engine currently. If you switch to a short water pump, you will need all the correct pulley's and brackets for a small block with a short water pump. The '68 and earlier cars and '72 and earlier trucks had short water pumps.

Re: Power steering help

Ok cool I have the long water pump setup but I'm switching to a short setup so my factory A/c system will work but I can't find a short water pump p/s pump bracket for a truck. so I don't evin know what I'm looking for. Was it the same as on the cars and dose anyone have any pictures of one?

Re: Power steering help

The '63-'66 trucks used the same power steering pump brackets as the '63-'68 cars. There are a couple slight variations, bu they are basically the same.

There are 2 or 3 variations of the power steering pump brackets for the '67-'72 trucks. But they are basically the same.

Here is one of the many aftermarket short water pump power steering pump brackets.
