4x4 shock brackets

Every other frame I've seen has the front shocks bolting into the frame rail half way down. But my 1960 Chevy Apache K10 has brackets that bolted to the frame rail, extend up and bend to form the top shock mount. Both are broke, welded, and are in need of replacement. I've searched high and low, no one has heard of or seen them for sale. Any tips on making these look new and serviceable?

Re: 4x4 shock brackets

It looks like our trucks went to the same welding shop. My passenger side is fine but the driver's side has been welded.. I found the mounting studs online at a hot rod shop in California.. The ones Classic Chevy Truck Parts of America sell will not fit.. I guess they were serious when they listed them for 2WD only..There was a NOS mounting bracket on Ebay..The one I needed... Of course it slipped my mind and sold for $12.00...

Re: 4x4 shock brackets

I would cut and modify the tops to include a brace that extends on top of the frame flange and volts to it.

Re: 4x4 shock brackets

Hello all! I see this thred was from a while ago but I was wondering if some one could tell me if they know where to buy replacement mounts or if someone could measure theirs and give me some numbers I could use to build new ones. Any help is appreciated

Re: 4x4 shock brackets

PARTS BOOK

7.395
1960 lists a gmc part number
1961-62 has a different part number but shared by GMC
then
1963-68 has a third part number also shared by GMC
then 69-91 all have the same part number including Blazer

If you want to do some searching:
http://www.gmpartswiki.com/query

Enter 7.395 bracket in the search box.
