More Trans linkage help needed

Ok, I am still confused, I know I took this off of this transmission but now it doesn't fit. I don't know if the rebuilder got it wrong or if I am a knucklehead so if anyone knows please chime in.

Have u tried turning the bracket (and?) shift-valve rod (at the 2 bellhousing bolts) around or just over?
Sam

Re: More Trans linkage help needed

If you go back to the pictures I sent of mine you don't have the right transmission to swivel bracket rod. Looks like you have two carb to top of relay rods and the lower one should be a straight piece of linkage with a swivel stud on both ends that have a threaded nut attaching the stud to both end linkages. Check the pictures you can see what that rod look like. If you can't see clearly enough by blowing the pictures up then I can take a new picture of that rod itself. The top bracket looks just like mine still attached so it about has to be the wrong rod for the lower. I'll also try to get a measurment on that solid rod stud to stud itself when I get home tonight. Re: More Trans linkage help needed

Looking at my Droid at the powerglide pictures I took I really believe it is just the wrong lower rod. But if you say it came from that transmission and it was downshifting before was there a carburator change or did you get the top rod back in the same hole on the carb? If that linkage was to be shorter from carb to top swivel then that lower half would be shorter distance with that swivel setting more to the rear if that makes sense too.

Re: More Trans linkage help needed

I just bought the motor and trans so don't know if it worked but I am sure I unbolted the 2. Maybe a length on the lower rod and I will see what I have. Maybe I got them mixed up along the way, thanks for the help.

Re: More Trans linkage help needed

Here you go. lower rod is straight and 11.75 total length and swivel stud bolt to swivel stud bolt is 11.25". Mine ran and drove great despite the greasy mess and only 67k miles. Mine was also off a 327 with 4 barrel so that top carb linkage piece may be slightly different too. Mark

Re: More Trans linkage help needed

You might already know this but you have the carb linkage piece on backwards. The threaded end is supposed to be to the carb end.
