We had a toolbox mounted to the step of our '66 back in the day (dad's truck, but I drove it to school everyday). It finally rattled the step off. You need to mount it to the side somehow (as well as the step).....

dig the truck! A step Plate might work and you could still use the step.

Secure a replica vintage half size RC Cola machine to it. Very secure of course, but it could be cool. Stock with whatever you want
You'll get lots of friends that's for sure!

I liked Pepsi's idea only stock it w/Bud Light. My Dad put a tire on both sides, he went through the deprssion years. But I don't ever remember him having a flat tire, but he was prepaired for one. Yeah put a tire on each side I think that would be cool w/red rims and wide whites...Vernski

Re: filling the step area for stepsides..any ideas?pics?

Saw this here a few weeks back, It does not fill the step but kind of ties the rear fender in with the cab. Maybe do it smaller and red.

Re: filling the step area for stepsides..any ideas?pics?

The stakes look good on a long stepper, it accentuates the length but also makes it blend better. I think a fender depression with a spare on both sides would really be killer. When I was a kid in high school working at the gas station I remember an old dude around town that ran a small construction company had twin spares on the sides of a LWB GMC stepper, carried two mud grips and swapped the street tires and mud grips back and forth on the rear as needed. His was a maroonish GMC with chrome frontend and V6 with 3 on the tree. Seems like I remember it having an aftermarket dealer installed under dash A/C unit with a York or Tecumseh compressor. We used to do his service work, sold him some tires, and even washed it occasionally. I do remember his daughter being quite the hottie but too classy for me, we'd talk but she wasn't interested in the pump jock at the gas station.

The things us old guys remember, wonder what happened to her.......

Look her up on tweety birds or facey pages. I bet she thinks about you from time to time too. Or one of us could look her up for ya just so you know what happened to her.

Re: filling the step area for stepsides..any ideas?pics?

I was always going to mount a vintage cooler/ice chest on my step. Havent yet, mine will prob be cut down and a short fleetside bed put on it before I ever get around to mounting my old cooler on it haha

I would have to agree with spookylynx, It looks good right now, Your tires remind me of the Disney Cars movie., way cool. Let the passenger side strut and mount the old school spare tire on the drivers.
