3/4 to 1/2 ton?
So I have started work on my newly acquired 1961 GMC Truck. It currently has the 8 lug setup. I plan to bag the truck and am looking to "upgrade" the front suspension to a later model also upgrade the brakes. Do I have to look for 3/4 ton specific parts? or will 1/2 ton work?

Re: 3/4 to 1/2 ton?
do you want the truck 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. you can change everything to 1/2 if you want or if you want to keep it 3/4 you would need to find s 3/4 ton truck

Re: 3/4 to 1/2 ton?
I think you will find more availablility and cheaper cost on the 1/2 ton parts.

Re: 3/4 to 1/2 ton?
We have both. The 64 is a 3/4 ton. and with out the air ride would ride real stiff. the 61 is 1/2 ton, parts are much eaiser to find.

Yeah, ease of acquiring parts is what I'm looking for. I just want to make sure I purchase everything that is necessary. To make the change as smooth as possible.

Re: 3/4 to 1/2 ton?
I dont know about the 1/2 ton being eaisier to find I had no problem finding 3/4 ton front suspension parts and they werent that much more than the 1/2 ton. the best way I found was to get a whole front clip from a 3/4 ton truck and change them out and then only replace the parts that were wore out. you should be able to find one for about $150 or so and I even seen them cheaper
