1971 gmc k2500

Picked her up yesterday. Going to replace the rot and keep a wood flat bed on her.











Some of the damage,









This will be going in at some point in the future.

Looks like there is some rust damage on the frame. Not impossible to work with, but what are your plans? A new frame maybe?

My father in law is an awesome welder by trade. He has the steel to replace just that section. The rest of the frame is just surface rust really. When they put the wood bed on the frame it looks like they modified the rear portion for the rear bumper. That portion of the frame they cut and welded is where the rust is. It's all straight pieces so I am going to just let him weld in some new pieces on both sides. I already have the shackles and hangers for the frame that we will bolt and weld on. Will probably replace the rear shocks and springs while I'm there.

from the pics you showed i would check that truck over real good before putting too much into it

Finally got her running. Now to fix the exhaust and do a tune up.
