Re: 509 W engine

After seeing this post (and turning 50 this year) I know I ve reached midlife crisis. It use to be all it took was some hot mamma at the beach in a bikini to get my motor revving... Now it's 509 hp motors like this are all I can think about. Darn this forum....but I want one! Rich.. You're killing us "old guys" here...

Love the motor....hate the $18,500 price tag. Looks killer though

Re: 509 W engine

If I had only waited a few more days before investing in a new engine!

That is one sweet motor. Although if had that kind of money I'm not sure whether that or a dual qual 426 Hemi would have the most wow factor.

Re: 509 W engine

I think that an original 348 or 409 would be more cost effective than the $18,500 for the 509. Looks cool, but so do the 348 and 409's and they are considerably cheaper.

Re: 509 W engine

While we're dreaming...this one's only $3K more.

Throw another $2,500 on top of that, and you can get one with 10.75:1 CR.

The W series engines definitely have the "cool factor", but the cost/hp of the crate engines on that website just doesn't compute. $24K for 625hp?

Re: 509 W engine

too much money for an old-tech motor, Looks cool but I would rather have an original 409 for much less $$$.

X2
$18 grand would build a SUPER sweet 409, and still have plenty of cash left over to sweeten up whatever it's going into.

Re: 509 W engine

I wouldn't call it an old tech engine, new alum blk, good bottom end, ED heads. much better than the old iron engines.---put FI on it. and i would love to have one!
