i put an electric fan on my 86 and i was wondering what upper rad hose i should use now, the fan shroud is gone so i dont need to have the hose formed to get around it, anyone know of any other hoses for different applications that will work? (6cyl ? or different year?)I WILL NOT USE FLEX HOSE

Re: upper rad hose - help !

A quick google of "steel radiator hose" brought up something like this:

Its a chrome-plated stainless steel hose that can be trimmed to fit your application. Ive also seen people use a small length of hose on both ends of the radiator and water neck then a steel pipe bent up however you want to connect the two.

EDIT: Found a picture to help describe what I meant:

Re: upper rad hose - help !

I use an electric fan and don't use the factory fan or shroud.
I use a 10 series chevy Van upper rad hose and thermostat housing.
This also clears my Yorkie edc which sits where the factory A/C compressor used to reside

Re: upper rad hose - help !

the van would be a late 70-early 80s Chevy 10. The thermostat housing points pretty much straight up with a slight angle forward. The vans don't have alot of room under the hood and the rad. is mounted higher than in the trucks. That is why the upper hose has to come straight out and up. Pic to follow...
