69 control arms on 72

has anyone changed their upper and lower control arms from a 67-70 on to a 71 or72? I know the ball joints are different,but i read turning radius is a different. Has anyone noticed this?

I have read in the past that disc spindles on drum control arms will alter your turning radius, but I have never compared the stops on the arms. The last set I did I used 72 spindles and arms.

I changed my 68 c10 over to dics brakes from a 72, 2 1/2 drop spindles from ECE. Your turning radius is determined by how far the spindles can move in a turn. The steering stops are cast into and part of the spindles and don't adjust as some imports do. The stops hit the control arms. The only difference i could think of is if the control arms are a different width in the steering stops area. When i did my conversion i had the 72 control arms on top of my 68 control arms to compare and didn't see any difference except the ball joint stud diameter was different. it was 5 years ago when i converted, so i'm trying to remember for sure. If i was to do it all over again i would unbolt a complete crossmember out of an 87 and back truck and bolt it in, spindles, rotors, calipers, etc. A friend loved these 67-72 trucks and owned a body shop and would do the conversion along with the rearend to match up the five lug. That was a long time ago though so double check. Good luck.
