Re: 1969 GMC Serria Grande with 8 1/2 foot bed
It could be a longhorn, or a camper special. I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between the two. Pictures would help.

I think that would be a Sierra Grande GMC's version of the Longhorn Truck. They both had 8' 6" beds LockDoc

Re: 1969 GMC Serria Grande with 8 1/2 foot bed
Sierra Grande is a trim level. Custom Campers were a badge option. As far as we have been able to find there is not an offical name for the GMC equivalent of a Longhorn. These were 3/4 or 1 ton trucks built on the 1 ton (133"wb) chassis with a 8'6" Fleetside/Wideside bed. If you want run the VIN and model numbers through the decoders linked in my signature. Here is a picture of Davepl's 70 as a reference and it is getting better everyday.

Re: 1969 GMC Serria Grande with 8 1/2 foot bed
The 9' boxes were only on C30/3500 Stepside/Fenderside trucks. They also have a 133" wheelbase but more rear overhang.
Looks like a nice truck from your limited pictures.

It is a "LONGHORN".....except the GMC's were not called LONGHORNS. Here is a picture of my last one. 8 1/2 wooden bed in all. Mar-K sells the wood if you want to replace it.

Re: 1969 GMC Serria Grande with 8 1/2 foot bed
The Sierra Grande was a Longhorn with the 8 1/2ft bed.
BTW, i saw that truck up on the local craigslist here actually! Looked pretty nice and original with alot of options but it had a blown tranny i think? Not sure but good luck and let us know about it! I see your in Everett too so if you ever wanna have a chat about trucks i'm down! |

Re: 1969 GMC Serria Grande with 8 1/2 foot bed
Sorry I disagree and still maintain that "Sierra Grande" is a trim level and not just a GMC version Longhorn. It is seen on everything from a SWB C1500 to the C3500 Widesides.
The "Grande" and "Sierra Grande" trim levels were introduced in late 69 and were upgrade to the existing "Custom" and "Super Custom". The "Custom Camper" emblems are a badge option denoting the truck has meet the GM recommended minimum equipment levels. As of yet we are unable to find any reference to a model name for the GMC version Longhorn. If you have documention for a name specificlly for any of the following models please share it. CS260OD CE260OD CS360OD CE360OD 70-72 CS26034 CE26034 CS36034 CE36034 However the truck pictured is a GMC Longhorn and either a C2500 or a C3500 with the Sierra Grande trim nameplate and the Custom Camper nameplate. Without a SPID to comfirm either could have been easily added.

Yes, Sierra grande was just a trim option. I have one, it has the normal 8' bed.

It was actually "sierra" and "sierra grande". I know tim knows this but thought i would clarify that.

At best it is probably 1/2 of Chevrolets if I were to guess.

Re: 1969 GMC Serria Grande with 8 1/2 foot bed
My '69 GMC is one of those unmarked "longhorns". The only badging the truck has is above the drivers door that says "Custom".
Here is a Picture of my SPID.

Re: 1969 GMC Serria Grande with 8 1/2 foot bed
In this case value is going to be condition driven. To a much lesser extent option content but it is not really more valuable because of a possible low production count. In fact on the open market it is worth less than a regular 3/4 or 1/2 ton LWB due to a greatly reduce market interested in such a truck. Add in things like color (in this case plain to most) and it just does not stand out as a "gotta have it" truck. While there are some of us wanting a variation apart from the heard (for a number of reasons) we a few in number compared to those who would chop it up for residual parts.
