intake bolts that carb sits on...

I bought a engine pulling plate and some grade 8 bolts.are the bolts in the stock intake studs? Its the stock intake that had a 2 barrel on it.its filthy so its hard to visually see.the bolts look brittle though.

I was gonna drill the plate to line up with the 2 barrel holes however if they are studs what am is the best approach to use this engine pulling plate?

Are these plates safe to use with aluminum intake manifolds??
I figure if the studs are shot ill upgrade to an aluminum intake

I've never used a plate to lift on a 2bbl manifold.

But... I have used a plate on 4bbl cast iron and aluminum intakes to pull engines, and engines with the transmissions (auto and stick) still bolted to them. Just used grade 8 bolts in the stud holes.

All cast iron big block, turbo 400, and a plate on an aluminum edelbrock intake. They are plenty strong.



In your case I'd just use a chain to a couple of bolts front and rear on the engine rather than messing with modifying the lift plate you have. You can have it out and on the ground that way quicker than making a pattern and drilling new holes.

Sounds good.ill just go in the accessory hole in the head and then into the back.good to know its ok with aluminum intakes going forward.I have the same plate as in your picture. Ill just leave it alone

Not as heavy as the BBC above... but here is my 355 with the TH350 going into the truck with the lift plate bolted to an RPM Air-gap.

I I was contemplating going to an edelbrock aluminum intake,maybe matching cam since the motor will be out anyways.
