Silly wheel question
Is anyone running 5 lug front and 6 lug rear custom wheels? I'm sure some brands have a wheel available in both. I upgraded to disc fronts but it will be awhile before I can do anything to back. Actually if I can find some cool wheels I probably never change the back.

Some wheels styles come in multiple patterns. I was looking some Vintage 57 that had both 5x5 and 6x5.5 same width, but I would wait and get it the same first. It Just seems kinda hokey to have a miss match not to mention the spare situation if you have one. I would re-drill the axles before I did that.

For what a rear end for one of these truck can be had,I would swap out to a 5 lug.That will also get you a wider rear end and put the rear Hub to hub even (or nearly so) to the fronts.The disc conversion puts your hubs in front about 3/4 in wider on each side.

Around here 5 lug rears are hard to come by. I know the 71-72 rear should mount up, but they are like gold in south Alabama. There are hardly any of these trucks in the junkyards, as soon as they go in they are picked apart.

Buck found them for $157, shipped .. both axles 5 lug. I'll see if I can find the post.
Have you ever swapped them out? Ride up to Chatt one Sat and I'll help you with it, .. pretty easy actually. We can do new bearings and seals too while we have it apart.

A cpp 5 lug rear axle conversion is also a simple, and not real expensive alternative to consider. Keeps original rear housing and gearing (or modified gearing in that orig housing) on the truck.
