rear flip kits
Some flip kits come with new U bolts and plates while others don't. Are new U bolts needed because of length or is it just for NEW vs old?

Re: rear flip kits
You should always replace u-bolts especially on these older trucks

Re: rear flip kits
Correct. Some guys like to replace them as a rule of course, others reuse them. You'll have to make your own decision as to which you prefer. Here in Texas we don't get rust and I reuse a lot of them personally.

Re: rear flip kits
Lots of the replacement U bolts I have seen are cheap imports. If rust is at a minimum re-using may be better. I use to send every thing out to have zinc plated so they all came back looking like new. Calif trucks are usually pretty clean underneath (note Tony is in Calif).

Re: rear flip kits
You should replace U-bolts. Your old ones have been stretched and you'll be lucky to get them off anyway if they're original. I actually just bought THIS Western Chassis flip kit and put it on yesterday. Works very well, very straight-forward.

Re: rear flip kits
Replace them. After you look at them during the swap you will want to. Go with a pair through Barnes4wd. I got mine there and they are fn'ing tough!
(your life may depend on it)
