should i replace my glass aswell?
Im replacing all of my weather striping and was wondering if it made sense to replace the glass at the same time, both the window and the small vent window.
They have minor little scratches on them as a 45 yr old truck should but they are in good shape and do not have any discoloration. What would some new glass for both doors set me back?

Sounds like overkill. Some 0000 steel wool does wonders on old glass, may take out some of the small scratches and any hazing.
I'd save the money for other stuff. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: should i replace my glass aswell?
I would only replace the glass if you're building a show-quality truck or if the glass is bad enough to impair vision. I couldn't quote you current prices, but a local shop can help you with that.
As MidLifer says, 0000 steel wool can clean up haze and weathering or water spots. Make sure you use glass cleaner with the steel wool. There are also glass scratch removal kits available that use cerium oxide, a very fine abrasive, to polish out scratches. Again, make sure you have plenty of wet if you use it. |

About the steel wool... do you use any polishing compound or a liquid with it?

Re: should i replace my glass aswell?
As truckster said, use some glass cleaner. I actually didnt know that when i bought a junkyard window for my truck, but it came out ok anyway.
I've read that Griot's Garage glass polish is good - you can get it on Amazon. People say it works better than the stuff they sell in parts chains. Posted via Mobile Device |
