Maybe a dumb question 71-72

I gave someone a pair of front brake hoses for a 71-72 disc brake truck 1/2ton. Aftermarket braided stainless steel. They say the female end on one side doesn't fit. They didn't make two different steel line nut sizes, did they?
The hoses have the appropriate banjo fitting on one end and a 3/8" female inverted flare on the other.

Are you saying the 1/2 is different from the 3/4 or that the right and left have different size nuts?

maybe you have two different wheel cylinders so they have different sized attachment points?

Re: Maybe a dumb question 71-72

Disc brakes. Flex hose goes from caliper to tab on frame where hardline ends are.
Someone is telling me the hose fits one side but not the other. I have never seen a vehicle with two different sized hardline nuts. Both sides should be 3/8" inverted flare as far as I know. I'm asking if these trucks came with different sizes, pass vs drivers side. I don't believe they would have but I don't know every thing about these trucks.

Possible one hose has bad threads or other defect, problem is I'm dealing with someone that can't explain the problem, just "it doesn't fit one side"

Re: Maybe a dumb question 71-72

My 72 1/2 ton uses two different part numbers for front beake hoses. I found out when i ordered hoses from the local parts house. Left side is one pn and right side is different. Same issue that op mentioned above.

Re: Maybe a dumb question 71-72

Two part numbers because of the banjo head has opposite "tangs", I really doubt there's two different thread sizes at the female AN fitting but I'm not positive.

Re: Maybe a dumb question 71-72

There are two different sizes at the "hose-to steel line" connection.
(1/2-ton 2wd trucks)

I've heard you can use 71-72 4x4 hoses to get them the same for each side.
(as in converting from drum brakes to disc brakes)

Yea Tony, the 71/72 hoses use 2 different size female ends. One side has 3/8-24 and the other is 7/16-24 an female fittings.

Re: Maybe a dumb question 71-72

I just replaced the front brake hoses on my '71 last weekend and the fittings that attach to the female end of the brake hoses are different from side to side. I believe the one on the pass. side was a little smaller.

Re: Maybe a dumb question 71-72

In reference to post number 2....

The difference between half and 3/4-1 ton hoses on 71-72 trucks is length. The heavy trucks used the exact same hoses as half tons, but with an added 3/4" of length. Those are the hoses I use on lowered trucks because the added bit of length makes the fit more comfortable on the dropped trucks. With drop spindles and drop springs on a half ton, the factory length hoses can get a bit taught for my tastes. The big truck hoses fix all of that.
