Hood ornament for 72' C10 Super? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My fellow truckheads, I have scoured the threads of the forum in search for any pictures or ideas of what the original hood ornament looked like for the 72' Chevy C10 Super to no avail.

From my research, the factory built C10 Supers had a hood ornament on some models but I've not been able to find them. Any ideas?

Mine has the area to attach one but it is missing. I'd like make a custom one or find an original somewhere. And if I've overlooked a past thread with the right info, my apologies.

Here's my best guess of what they looked like. I don't think they're that fancy but I just can't find anything.

No factory hood ornaments for 67-72. I have seen some on trucks, and am thinking the 71-72 monte carlo has been used numerous times.

Ive never heard of a factory ornament. Now dealers did stuff. The chevy dealer put ornaments on custom 10s. I finally figured out what mine came from. They are 1958 impala fender ornaments.

I'm wondering where the info you researched came from as well. Because I can say with absolute certainty that GM never offered a hood ornament on any of the 67-72 trucks. If it was a Cheyenne Super feature then all would have them. If it was an option then any could have one. As mentioned,in the late '80s-early '90s the 1st generation Monte Carlo ornaments were a popular add-on. I think they look really good,like factory,especially on 71/72s since they don't say "Chevrolet" already on the front. I even bought one back then and still have it. I thought bout using it on several truck,then decided to leave well enough alone. I think I'm sitting on a fairly precious gem by now

I may just make a rounded off replacement piece to make it fit the obvious hole where the hood ornament went on mine. I'll take some pictures of what it looks like and see if I can come up with something nice.

I don't really wanna put anything fancy on it, i'd just rather have something there other than a hole!

PO had something on the hood, it was broke, pitted all from heck, since its my truck....i am THINKING about looking around but honestly....i dont think they were ever factory...even on the 67 68...

Here is what my '71 Mini Dump Truck has on the hood. Not factory but I don't have a clue what it's off of. It fits the curve pretty good...

There also weren't dealer ornaments,if GM accessory is what you mean. Sure,I guess someone could have a dealer install what anyone else could,which doesn't make it a "dealer ornament". Factory is only available from factory and dealer is only available from dealer. The rest is simply aftermarket

My truck's PO is a huge hood ornament buff (my dad). He has put hood ornaments and emblems onto each of his riding lawn mowers also, always a Lincoln or Cadillac emblem/hood ornament.

He put this onto my truck probably back in the 70's or early 80's. Since he had the truck 2 years before I was born, I used to think this WAS a Chevrolet emblem!

I couldn't imagine my truck without it so it will stay as long as I have anything to do with it. I don't see myself adding one onto another truck if I was to get it though unless of course, something happened to my (current) truck and I found a replacement.
