Single to double diaphragm booster on a 72
I am replacing the brake booster on a 72 c20 with a 7" double diaphragm unit. The truck is disk front, drum rear, factory power. I have the larger 5" booster bracket.
I went with the double because it was all they had in stock. The salesman at Tucker's assured me that it is a bolt in unit with my original bracket and rod. However, I see many references being made to the small bracket with the double diaphragm booster. I'd like to know before pulling it apart much further... It looks like the threaded push rod is far too short. There are no markings on the booster, but it is gold anodized and I believe its made by CPP.

I have not had any issues using the 5" stands with double diaphram brake boosters. Here is a picture of a 71 C-10 that I swapped in the 3/4 ton booster/brake cylinder set up.
I am pretty certain that all of the 3/4 ton trucks came with the double diaphragm so your C-20 should have had the double diaphram in it from the factory. Jim

Dude,
Again with the brake questions out of context. Your truck is a parts mix. Like we have said before just ID what you have, then what you need to correct it to a fairly stock configuration. Buying "what they had" is another example of just getting by instead of correcting the problem. In this one case it seems like you lucked out. There is a lot of back story here and you need to step up and do the brakes right for a DD. They are the single most important system on your truck.
